Are you showing up as your whole self?
The root of the word healing is “whole”. Together, let’s create a safe space for your whole truth, experience, and self. Find private teletherapy or online virtual therapy from a licensed psychologist in both Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New York with me.
Hi, I’m Julie.
I am a licensed psychologist and I help people like you harness their innate strengths and capacity to grow and heal. Together, we will explore the collective knowledge psychology has to offer you, and figure out how you can apply it to your unique life and context. Learn more about my work, and book a 15-minute consultation to see if I’m a good fit for your needs.
My Approach
Does this sound like you?
My clients are often making meaning of challenging life experiences, navigating big transitions, developing more balanced and compassionate views of themselves, developing skills and capacity to be present with strong emotion (anxiety, panic, grief, sadness), and exploring and shifting patterns in their relationships.
How will we approach challenges?
I use approaches (relational, humanistic, social-justice oriented) that focus on creating wellness through a greater understanding of yourself in the larger context of your history, identity, culture, and social location. I also use approaches (e.g., ACT/CBT/DBT) that tend to offer more structured, active, and goal-oriented strategies to create shifts in your life.
What’s it like to work together?
More than any technique or approach, the therapeutic relationship and agreement about your goals are the most important factors in effective treatment (Wampold, 2001). Knowing this, you and I will collaborate closely to create your therapy experience. I check in often about how our relationship is feeling to you, and how the work is going.
How does virtual therapy work?
I offer teletherapy services in Rhode Island, New York, and Massachusetts. Similar to convening an online work meeting, we will use my private HIPAA-compliant teletherapy platform to connect using your computer or mobile phone. If you are curious about whether teletherapy is right for you, check this resource from verywellmind.com.

Focus areas
I work with clients of all identities on adjustment issues, stress management, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and parenting. I also have a few areas of focus where I have specialty training and expertise.
LGBTQ+ Health
I have extensive training and experience working with the LGBTQ+ community. My clients are exploring their sexual and gender identities, creating positive and healthy self-images as LGBTQ+ people, building new supportive communities, and reconciling and exploring how intersectional identities (gender, race/ethnicity, cultural identity, sexual identity, class identity, religious identity) inform one another. I have experience writing letters of support for gender-affirming medical interventions.
Recovery from Trauma
I work with people who have experienced a single traumatic event, and those who have had ongoing traumatic experiences (e.g., intimate partner violence). In addition to the therapeutic approaches described above, I am also trained in two CBT-based treatments for PTSD: Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure.
