Education & Clinical Experience
Explore my background and see if virtual therapy with an experienced therapist in Rhode Island, New York, and Massachusetts is a good fit for you.
I have over 15 years of experience as a therapist, supervisor, and clinical teacher in community mental health, academic medical centers, and higher education settings.
Currently, I am the Associate Director of Training at Rhode Island School of Design. I also worked in college mental health at Syracuse University, where I was Assistant Director of Training at Syracuse’s Counseling Center.
Prior to working in higher ed, I held an academic appointment at Montefiore Medical Center, where, in addition to providing psychotherapy, I supervised and provided didactic training to psychiatry residents and psychology interns. From there, I held an academic appointment at Columbia University Irving Medical Center/ColumbiaDoctors working in the Gender and Program, providing care to LGBTQ+ clients and their families.
My degrees include a B.A. in Psychology from Carleton College, a M.S. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Boston College. I completed a clinical psychology residency at Harvard Medical School/Cambridge Health Alliance. I went on to receive specialty training in trauma-related issues, PTSD, and LGBTQ+ health in a postdoctoral fellowship at VA Boston Health Care.
I have published dozens of scientific articles in peer-reviewed academic journals and presented my empirical work at national conferences. My research broadly focuses on LGBTQIA+ health, plurisexual (e.g., bisexual, bi+, pansexual, queer) people, and the intersection of discrimination and interpersonal violence.
